Drawing on a research trajectory focused on subjective well-being in childhood and adolescence, the lecture outlines a conceptual and empirical journey that addresses definitional tensions of the construct, its links to mental health, positive development, and psychosocial protection, as well as the inequalities that shape it across gender, age, and conditions of vulnerability. Key findings from longitudinal and comparative studies conducted in Chile are presented, along with a school-based intervention designed to promote well-being through a multidimensional, community-centered, and situated approach. The transcript brings empirical evidence, public policy, and psychological practice into dialogue, and raises open questions about the limitations of current psychology in addressing the multiplicity of childhoods and the challenge of recognizing children’s agency as co-constructors of knowledge.
Jaime Alfaro Copyright (c) 2025 ‎ Polymathia https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 2025-07-29 2025-07-29 1 1 7 21 10.33264/prpa.2025.01.12 University as a place of wisdom https://revistas.uniacc.cl/index.php/polymathia/article/view/105
The contemporary university is marked by a structural tension between technical-professional specialization and its humanistic and critical mission. This article proposes a reconstruction of the university’s formative horizon from a sapiential perspective, structured around three core dimensions: interiority, technique, and wisdom. It is argued that interiority—conceived as the subject’s reflective dialogue with oneself and with the intellectual community—constitutes the foundation of a genuine academic experience; that technique, while essential for professional training, must be guided by prudence to prevent the instrumentalization of knowledge; and that wisdom, understood as an integrative form of knowledge oriented toward the common good, serves as the guiding principle of all educational processes. From this triad, the paper underscores the importance of general education as a space for epistemological and ethical synthesis, enabling specialized knowledge to be situated within a broader, holistic worldview. It concludes that only a university fostering critical interiority, technical excellence, and a sapiential orientation can resist productivist logics and fulfill its vocation of forming free, responsible subjects committed to social transformation.
Klaus Droste Copyright (c) 2025 ‎ Polymathia https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 2025-07-29 2025-07-29 1 1 22 31 10.33264/prpa.2025.01.13 Comparative Study of Expanded Cinema and Live Cinema Shows https://revistas.uniacc.cl/index.php/polymathia/article/view/98
The article explores the evolution of cinema towards expanded cinema and its impact on contemporary performing arts, especially on live cinema shows. From the archaeology of media, it analyzes the interaction between image, technology, and live performance in "stage realizations". It highlights the relevance of understanding this convergence to expand the limits of visual narrative in the current theatrical context.
Javier Ibarra Copyright (c) 2025 ‎ Polymathia https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 2025-07-22 2025-07-22 1 1 32 43 10.33264/prpa.2025.01.14 From the Closet to the Algorithm https://revistas.uniacc.cl/index.php/polymathia/article/view/102
In recent decades, global television has transitioned from relegating the LGBTQ+ community to symbolic margins to giving it a main place in its narratives. With an ironic and metaphorical tone, this article examines the kuir transformations through four contemporary series: “Please Like Me,” “EastSiders,” “Sort Of,” and “The Gay and Wondrous Life of Caleb Gallo.” Using a comparative and textual methodology grounded in cultural studies, media theory, and kuir thought, the analysis explores how these productions construct dissident subjectivities through resources such as humor, tenderness, care, absurdity, or intimate realism. The results highlight an evolution from stories centered on the closet to more complex representations of kuir daily life. Patterns of resistance, DIY aesthetics, and new affective grammars are identified, oscillating between the precarious and the fabulous. These productions not only present identities but also create new worlds where kuirness ceases to be marginal and becomes structural. This television does not ask for permission: it embraces irony as makeup, walks forward with aesthetic platforms, and proudly declares: “Yes, this is me, and I’ve got my own script.”
Juan Urzúa-Pineda Copyright (c) 2025 ‎ Polymathia https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 2025-07-29 2025-07-29 1 1 44 61 10.33264/prpa.2025.01.15 Reflections and Transformations https://revistas.uniacc.cl/index.php/polymathia/article/view/106
Editorial por parte del Director de la revista, Cristopher Yáñez-Urbina
Cristopher Yáñez-Urbina Copyright (c) 2025 ‎ Polymathia https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 2025-07-29 2025-07-29 1 1 2 6 10.33264/prpa.2025.01.11
